Dr. Petteys is a board-eligible (BE) neurological surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive and reconstructive spinal surgery techniques. He received his undergraduate degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and attended medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Petteys completed internship and residency in neurological surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, where he received extensive training in minimally invasive spinal surgery techniques. He then went on to a prestigious faculty appointment and fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, where he received additional training in complex and reconstructive spinal surgery.
Dr. Petteys treats patients with all manner of spinal disorders, including degenerative disease and chronic pain, scoliosis and deformity, trauma, infection, and tumors. His guiding philosophies on spine treatment are "the right treatment, for the right patient, at the right time" and "the least invasive surgery is the one you don't do."
